fb Earlier this year, there were reports that Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook profile cannot be blocked. Some of us have actually tried to block it and found it to be true.
The users who tried to block Zuckerberg received an error message that said something like, “Block Error. Sorry, there was a problem blocking Mark Zuckerberg. Please try again.”
And everyone began to think that is the case because Zuckerberg is the boss of the social media network. But after the company acknowledged this, it was discovered that it wasn’t intentional and the real reason is not any glitch in the system. Instead, it is a feature that kicks in when in a short span of time, a large number of users try to block a profile.
“In very rare instances, a viral campaign will develop instructing lots of people to all wrongly block the same person. The purpose of this system is to protect the experience for people targeted by these campaigns. We’re constantly working to improve our systems and are taking a closer look at this one,” told the company’s spokesperson.
At that time, the company also said that a team is working on a fix for this problem, and since it’s a technical challenge it could take some time.
However, the company rolled out that fix a few weeks later in September, but it went largely unnoticed by the users, according to the reports from The Verge.
The ability to block Facebook profile of Zuckerberg was first discovered by the social media director of The Next Web, Matt Navarra, who tweeted the following.
So, now the bug is gone and anyone can block the big names on Facebook. Share your opinion in the comments section below.
