There can be two major reasons for this error. One is that you haven’t updated the Play Service app to the latest version and the other is your current Android version is not supporting the Play Service app. So, we have explained a few methods below to fix the error.

How To Fix Google Play Services Has Stopped Error?

Method – 1: By Updating the Google Play Service App

The first thing you have to do is upgrade the Google Play Service app to the newer version.

1. Head to Google Play Store.

2. Click the three-line menu button and tap on ‘My Apps & Games’.

3. Now click on Installed apps and you will see the apps with uninstalled updates at the top.

4. Press the ‘Update All’ button.

5. Then, Restart the device and check if the error has been fixed.

Setting up Auto-Update is good for the apps to operate without any disturbance. For this, you have to change the settings manually. Open Google Play Store and click the three-line menu button on the top left corner. Now, click on Settings and tap on Auto-Update apps.

Method – 2: Clearing Cache of Google Play Services app

Google Play services app is the core of all Google apps installed on your Android device. Just like any other app, you can even Reset the Google Play services app to its default state by clearing the cache. Steps to clear the cache of Play service are given below.

1. Head to Phone Settings.

2. Go to Apps or Application Manager (in some devices).

4. Tap on Force Stop and then, tap on the Clear cache.

Now, Reboot the device to make the changes you have just made and check if the error is fixed.

Method – 3: Uninstall and Reinstalling the Google Play App

Sometimes even if the Google Play services app is updated, the program causes the error. So, the only way to get rid of it is uninstalling and reinstalling the app again.

1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> Google Play App and Click on Uninstall updates.

Once you have removed the latest updates, the Google Play services app will be restored to the stock version. Now you can go ahead and reinstall the latest updates for Google Play services.

3. Press the Update button and wait while the latest version of the Google Play services is installed.

4. Then, Reboot the device to make the changes you have just made and check if the error is fixed.

Method – 4: Clearing Cache of Google Services Framework

Google Services Framework app is the one which helps to keep updated with Google servers all the time. It also helps in syncing the data from Google servers to phone and vice versa. So, this can also be a problem of getting this error on your device.

1. Head to Phone Settings.

2. Go to Apps or Application Manager (in some devices).

3. Scroll down to find “Google Services Framework” App and click it.

4. Tap on Force Stop and then, tap on the Clear cache.

Now, Reboot the device to make the changes you have just made and check if the error is fixed.

Method – 5: Re-adding the Google Account

If at all the above methods haven’t worked, then you have to re-add the Google account as the last method to overcome the error. Before re-adding your Google account, make sure you have backed you all your data.

1. Head to Settings -> Accounts -> Google.

2. Now, select your email ID and click on remove account.

4. Now, Reboot your device.

Method – 6: Factory Reset

Factory Reset will wipe all the data on your device. So, create a backup before you reset.

1. Head to Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory Reset.

2. Confirm to erase everything on your phone.

3. Once it is done, Reboot your phone immediately.
