Instagram Launches a New “Go Live With A Friend” Feature

We all know about the live video feature of Instagram, launched last November, which allows you to broadcast to all your followers. Now the photo sharing app has upgraded it’s live video feature allowing you to stream the live video with a friend of yours watching the broadcast.

Yesterday, Instagram has officially announced about the “live with a friend” feature which was being tested past this summer. With the new feature you can invite a friend watching your broadcast to join your live video by tapping on the new dedicated smiling faces icon on the bottom right of the screen and then tap the “Add”. Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you.

The user can remove the guest and add some one else. This means that you can not go live with more than one person for now. And also, the guest may choose to exit the broadcast on their own when ever they want. Just as the previous live feature, after the broadcast is over, you can share the live video to stories.

When someone you follow goes live with a friend, you will see two circles stacked together instead of one circle in your stories bar. The followers can watch, like and comment the live video.

Instagram announced about the live video in its blog post saying “Now, you can hang out and go live together, whether you’re just doing homework or catching up on your day”. “Since introducing live video last November, millions of people have used it to connect with friends and followers in an authentic way. Now, you can have even more fun connecting with people in the moment.”

This new feature is available for to all the on billion users of Instagram right away. All you need to do is update your Instagram version 20 from the Google Play for Android users and Apple App Store for iOS users.
