For beginners, it is a process of experimentation wherein they get to test different strategies regarding search engine optimization and email marketing, and with time, things are learned well. Thus, the store owners must learn to make their product pages popular on the website in order to generate sales.

This article will discuss the step-by-step process of adding products to your Shopify store!

Step. 1: Log Into the Shopify Account

In order to create a product page on Shopify, the users are required to log into their accounts back-end and for this, the user must have their login information. The users must enter their store address, email address, and password to log in to the account. Besides, there is a “Remember Me” option too, enabling which speeds up the login process for next time. However, this one’s not recommended for people using shared devices.

Now, underneath the Search option, there is a Products tab; clicking on this option takes the user to options of Adding a Product or Importing Products. Users must click on Add a Product option which will lead them to the product page.

Step. 2: Add Product Details

Now, the users are supposed to enter their product information which includes the following aspects:

  • Product Title
  • Description
  • Product Type
  • Vendor

Product Title:

By product title, users are meant to give the name of their product. For instance, if the product is a bag, its title can be “Stunning Jet Black Leather Bag”. The titles must be preferably precise, striking, and to the point. Besides, there must be a pattern of consistency among your product’s title on every page.

Description:

It is a very important aspect that provides an opportunity to catch consumers’ attention. A solid product description must focus on and include the benefits that the product guarantees. Copy, pasting product information from other website pages is very harmful and affects the SEO status with Google. Just like the title, the format for a description of all products in the store must be similar.

Product Type:

Herein, the owners just need to use a word or terms to get the product classified into a specific category. For example, if your store is for jewelry and intends to sell a pair of earnings, you can add it to the “Jewelry” category or just into the “Women’s Accessories” section.

Vendor:

This section just needs your brand name. However, if your store deals in reselling other brands’ products, then credit to that manufacturer or supplier is given in the Vendor’s section.

Step. 3: Inventory, Price, and Extra Details

The above content was the central part of the product description, followed by the filling out of the remaining details. There is this Inventory and Variants section in which other product information like SKU, price, shipping options, and weight can be added.

Price:

It’s the very first thing that customer wants to know, and thus it is crucial to specify the prices for each product page. There is no need to add a currency symbol because the General settings display the tool of currency being used by your e-commerce business.

SKU:

SKU means stock keeping unit, which is basically a specific identification number assigned to every Shopify store product. This number can be taken from the manufacturer’s website or from the supplier directly.

Shipping Options:

This segment intends to inform the customers that how the products will be delivered to them. Under this option, store owners can check or uncheck the Charge Taxes box or the Requires Shipping box as per the specification.

Weight:

It doesn’t seem, but it is actually a big deal as it makes an immense difference to the freight cost and shipping expenses of the order fulfillment strategy.

After getting done with details of the above aspects, variants and inventory section can be used to compare prices of products, put information like barcodes and unlock fulfillment options. Besides, an inventory policy can also be set up to track the stock and add different other options like colors and sizes.

Step. 4: Add Product Images

Product images are required to give the idea about the actual product and convince them to buy it. It’s recommended to add as many relevant images as possible. The images must be captioned in a consistent format, and each word must be separated with a dash; this refines the SEO and makes the image search easy. It must be ensured that the images are of high quality and clear, also copyrights must be checked and permission should be taken to use copyright images.

Step. 5: Tags and Collection Details

This one’s supposed to be done after step 4 and it requires the products to be put into the specific collections on the website. This is done by using the Add to Collections option, which enables you to put the product page in the relevant category.

Herein, tags can also be added to the products, which facilitate the customers in searching the products. Using tags, automated collections can be created.

Step. 6: Publishing the Product Page

After finalizing every aspect, product page details must be checked and reviewed before clicking the Product button. After saving, you can review the product page by tapping over the link saying “View on your website” to make sure that everything’s up to the mark. In case of any problem, editing could be done.

Step 7: Add New Products

New Products can be added via the Products screen by tapping the + button and then tap on the Add Product; rest of the proceedings are the same.

It is effortless to add products to the Shopify store. Any Shopify store owner can perform the entire process smoothly by using this step-by-step guide.
