What is Sarahah app?

The internet’s new sensation, “Sarahah” is an anonymous messaging app created by Saudi developer ZainAlabdin Tawfiq. The app has millions of users and is trending on top in Apple’s App Store in over 30 countries.

At a time, when top instant messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, Hike, Telegram are trending, this ‘Sarahah’ app came with a new idea and concept and taking the internet by storm. The main difference between Sarahah and all those remaining apps is that users cannot interact with one another directly. There is no reply option even. What’s more interesting is – You don’t even know who sent the message to you. The messaging app doesn’t ask for your mobile number while registration.

What is the use of Sarahah app?

Sarahah mobile app helps you discover your friends and co-workers and leave an honest feedback. In Arabic language, Sarahah means honesty. Developer ZainAlabdin Tawfiq says “The app is a self-development tool that allows people to receive constructive feedback”. In simple terms, you can tell someone their negatives in a way that helps them understand. For example, the app helps your colleagues discover their areas of strength or any other improvements. Outside of the office, it is meant to give friends a place to communicate ‘honestly’ with one another.

While this app has garnered a huge following in a short span of time, it’s also facing flak due to cyber bullying possibilities, as anyone can abuse the people they hate, by just sending out rude messages in the name of anonymity feature that doesn’t show the message sender’s name.

How to Use Sarahah App?

Users, after downloading the app and signing up using their email and username, can share their profile link with friends or on their other social media accounts, so people can send them anonymous messages. Users can also look up people they know (if they have the username) in a search section of the app and send messages to them – all of which goes anonymously. You can only send text messages; no option to share photos.
