3 Alternatives to Restore ‘View Image’ Option in Google’s Image Search

In order to restrict the users from using the copyright images and help them connect to useful websites, Google removed the view image button from the results of Googles image search. In addition to this, the company also removed the ‘search by image’ button that appeared when users opened an image. However, the Visit button remains intact so that the users can see the images in the context of the web pages they’re on.

According to a statement made by Google,“The change is essentially meant to frustrate users. Google has long been under fire from photographers and publishers who felt that image search allowed people to steal their pictures, and the removal of the view image button is one of many changes being made in response.”

So, if you are among those frustrated users, searching for an alternative to access the view image option then here are few easy ways.

1. Install View Image Extension

An easy alternative for restoring view image in Google’s Image Search is to install an extension called ‘View Image’. It’s a browser extension developed for both Chrome and Firefox browsers by a developer Joshua B. The extension is available on both Chrome Web Store and on Firefox.

The view image extension not only restores the View Image button but also restores the Search by Image button.

2. Duck Duck Go

Don’t want to install an extension? Another method is to use an alternative search engine called Duck Duck Go, which allows the users to view and download images. All you need to do is search an image, click on image thumbnail and then click on ‘View File’ button to view and download images.

3. Open Image in New Tab

The easiest and optimized alternative for viewing images is to open the selected image in a new tab to view and download.

  • Select an image you wish to view and download from the Google’s search results.
  • Right-click on the image and click on the Open image in new tab or visit image option to view the image in full size.
  • Right-click on the image and select the save as option to download the image.

These are the three easy methods to view images and save them as Google removed the View image option from the search results. If you happen to know any other optimized methods, share them in the comments below!
