How to convert YouTube Videos to MP3? (Easy method)

Download the YouTube video directly in the MP3 format using an online tool. This is the easiest method.

Step #1. Insert pp in the YouTube video URL and press enter.

Add “pp” in the youtube video url as shown in the image above. After you add it, press enter. The browser will take you to the download page. Where you can find the download links to various formats.

Alternative Step #1. Go to y2mate.com and paste the URL (or) Go to y2mate.com or search for the video you want to download.

This is another method that you can use to download any youtube video.

Either copy-paste the YouTube video URL into the search bar or search for the video on y2mate using the title. Input either the title or search words to find the video you want to download.

This is a little lengthy. So, I prefer to add pp in the URL. I suggest you do the same.

Step #2. Go to MP3 tab and press download

The y2mate tool will give you multiple download options based on the different file formats and quality.

Since you want the YouTube video in MP3 format, go to the mp3 tab. Click on the download button to start the conversion from video to audio.

Step #3. Wait until the download button appears and then press “download .mp3” button.

The y2mate online tool will convert the YouTube video to MP3 format. After the conversion is over, the download button appears.

When it appears, click on it to start the download.

After you click on the download button, the download starts. The file is saved into your default download folder path.

There you have it, you have downloaded the MP3 file of a YouTube video. The file you have downloaded is of 128 kbps bitrate. If you want the MP3 file in 320 kbps bitrate, follow the steps in the next section.

This is a little lengthy and takes too many steps as well as double the internet data to achieve the same task. But this is the only way to get a better audio quality and bitrate of the video. The free online tools only let you download the video in 128 kbps bitrate mp3.

Steps for converting YouTube video to mp3 using an alternative method:

Download the YouTube Video in mp4 format using y2mate.com

Go to y2mate.com or any other online YouTube video downloader, and download the video the video file in your preferred format.

Either type in the search terms or copy-paste the URL in the search box to find the video you want to download. Download the file in whatever format you like. However, we recommend you download the file in MP4 format.

Convert the YouTube video to mp3 format using VLC player (Works in all OS)

There are several videos to audio converters available online that you could use. We have selected VLC to convert the video from audio because everyone has VLC on their computer and must have it. VLC media player is also available for almost all operating systems.

This method works in all operating systems. Also because if you have a good internet connection or unlimited data limit, you would follow the first method. 🙂

Step #1. Go to Media >> Convert / Save in VLC media player

Open VLC media player and go to media menu. Click on Convert/Save.

If you don’t have VLC media player, download VLC media player and install it.

Step 2. Add the file that you want to convert and then click “Convert / save”

When you click on the Add button in the file section, a window prompt appears where you can select the file that you want to convert to audio.

After you made sure that the file you selected is the right one, press “Convert / Save” button.

Step 3. Create new profile by clicking the icon shown in the image below.

Since you want the file to be in 320 kbps bitrate, you need to create a profile for such a conversion. Once you click on the “create new profile” button as shown in the image above, the window in the image below will pop up.

Select the MP3 option and then go to the Audio encode tab.

Step 4. Set the setting to your preference or use the settings we have used.

Profile name: MP3 320 kbps

Codec: MP3

Bitrate: 320 kbps

Channels: 2

Sample rate: 44100 Hz

Once you have entered the options, click on create button. Make sure you have entered the profile name before you press the create button.

Step 6. Select the profile we just created in the previous step.

After you create the conversion profile, select the profile from the drop down menu. In this case, it is MP3 320 kbps.

Step 7. Select the file name and destination and then click on save button.

Click on browse button that is next to destination file text box, and browse the folder you want to use. Give the file a name.

Step 8. Click on the save button to start the conversion

Once you have selected the destination file, click on the save button. After you save it, VLC will start converting the video file to audio MP3. This might take a little while depending on the file size.

After the conversion is over, the file is saved to the destination folder with the name you have chosen. The YouTube file is successfully converted to a high-quality MP3 file.
