At its Google Pixel event in San Francisco, Google announced its new Pixelbook along with new Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, Pixel Buds, and two Google Home smart speakers.
Google Pixelbook is the first laptop with Google Assistant built-in. It will feature a Google Assistant button on its keyboard, which will allow users speak to the laptop, using the wake phrase “OK Google” to ask questions.
Google Pixelbook features:
- The Pixelbook will run on Google’s Chrome OS, which uses apps and programmes from the Google Play Store. Unlike many Chromebooks, the Google Pixelbook is powered by Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. It comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen high-resolution display and supports up to 16GB RAM and up to 512GB SSD.
- It has a 10-hour battery life and you get 2 hours charge in 15 minutes. Instant tethering is a new feature that connects Pixelbook instantly to your phone’s internet in the absence of a Wi-Fi connection.
- Pixelbook is 10mm thick and weighs roughly 1 kilogram, and can be used as a tablet or in tent mode, thanks to its 360-degree hinge.The laptop has large bezels, big keys, and a wide trackpad.
Pixelbook’s pricing starts at $999 and it’s available in different storage — 128GB, 256GB or 512GB. It will be available in stores from 31 October.
Pixelbook also comes with stylus support with the help of new Pixelbook Pen, which costs separate $99. Google claims it to be best, fastest, and most-responsive stylus ever created.
