Three Comedies With Bathroom Humor

Some people are more open to potty humor than others, and some people are a bit more relaxed about talking about what happens in the bathroom than others. But, the fact is that every person has to use the restroom, so there’s no use pretending it’s not a fact of life.

Comedies often reflect truths as well as absurdities of humanity, so if you love comedies, you might enjoy films that are a bit more out there. While sophisticated comedies with subtlety are fun, there’s something to be said for more basic jokes and slapstick comedy that tend to get big laughs. These movies will bring out the kid in you that wasn’t afraid to laugh when someone farted.

Here are a few of the most notable comedy films that have bathroom moments.

3. Harold And Kumar Go To White Castle

This movie contains one of the more ridiculous bathroom scenes, but there is a lot of humor, despite the absurdity. The two main characters hear two beautiful women as they go to the bathroom and participate in a game of “battlepoops.” While it’s hard to imagine anyone ever acting like this in a public restroom, the scene is a good reminder that everyone has to go number two, no matter how beautiful and classy they may seem.

While the setup of this scene might not be the best or have aged very well, it’s still one of the most well-known bathroom humor scenes out there, which is why it’s on this list.

2. Along Came Polly

There are few things worse than running out of toilet paper, but what’s even worse is when this happens at the house of someone you’re interested in romantically.

The comedic acting of Ben Stiller in this scene is rather notable, and it’s also just so over-the-top ridiculous as it features a ferret, a precious bath towel, and an overflowing shower. At least the poor ferret is able to escape the restroom just in time! And luckily, Jennifer Aniston’s character, Polly, was pretty forgiving of what happened.

1. Bridesmaids

This list could not omit Bridesmaids. This sequence is probably the most well-known bathroom comedy moments, as it even reached rather a mainstream meme status.

After eating at a restaurant, the bridal party in the film gets food poisoning at the dress shop where Maya Rudolph’s character is picking out her gown. As they all try to find somewhere to go, things get absolutely wild and really hilarious.

Sadly, there aren’t enough restrooms to go around. We bet the characters wished they had a luxury bathroom fitted with a bidet, but instead, they ended up using sinks and the street.

Enjoy A Good Laugh

Sometimes, going to the bathroom doesn’t go as planned. While most people don’t end up in as wild of situations as some of the characters, many of us have had to go to the bathroom at an inconvenient time or found ourselves with no toilet paper while in a public stall.

The scenes above and others out there are a good way to destigmatize a natural human process that none of us can escape. Instead of feeling embarrassed, it’s better to embrace these facts.

Laughing at ridiculous and shameful moments is the best way to deal with the fact that sometimes being a human is a bit gross.
