Twitch Streamer Dies During 24 Hour Charity Live Stream

Twitch.tv streamer Brian ‘PoShYbRiD’ Vigneault was found dead after the attempt of a 24-hour streaming session on twitch, which he was doing for Charity. The speculations are that he died due to heart complications, which may be caused due to severe sleep deprivation.

Following is the information which was posted in PoShY’s Twitch chat:

Around 3:30 AM CST Poshy took a break for smoking. His Twitch stream was running at that time. Poshy never returns, and the assumption was that he fell asleep. Around 19:00, a detective asks Sorelor to call and delivers the sad news that Brian (Poshy) has passed away.

Poshy was known to be a chain smoker which may have lead to heart complications and death. He had gained popularity as a streamer of World of Tanks. The streamer community was informed about his death. They were heartbroken, and many sent their condolences.

His death is a cautionary tale for other gamers and streamers, who have such a lifestyle. There have been many such notable cases from South Korea and Taiwan where such incidents have happened before. So, please don’t attempt this kind of dangerous feats. Sleep deprivation is no joke, and if you mix it with drugs, it can be fatal.

Twitch’s streamer community constantly feels the pressure to stream more and more so that they don’t lose their fan base. Twitch should do something about this and limit the streaming hours for all the players so that such fatal incidents can be prevented. Human life should always be put before.

Update: The Virginia Beach Police Department confirmed Poshy’s death to Kotaku, but has not yet pinned down the exact cause of death.

The moderators of Poshy’s Twitch stream have turned his channel into a memorial, where users have been sending their condolences.
