Finally, after how many years, Vudu has finally launched on the Amazon Fire TV, which means you can easily access your Vudu library on any of your Firestick devices. NBCUniversal’s Fandango acquired the TV service from Walmart last year, and this new move is Fandango’s most recent effort to boost Vudu’s reach. Vudu has an incredibly extensive library of movies and TV shows of over 150,000, many of which are also available in 4K Ultra HD. Not only that, it also offers several movies for free as well—with ads, of course.
Last year, Vudu launched on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as TiVo, and just the other week, it was made available on Comcast’s Xfinity Flex and X1. These come on top of the fact Vudu already has an existing footprint on other services like Apple TV, iOS and Android devices, Roku, Chromecast, and even Sony, Samsung, and LG smart TVs.
According to Amazon, there were over 50 million average Fire TV/Firestick users in a month last year. In other words, this will surely boost Vudu significantly as well. Thanks to this partnership, Firestick users will be able to either purchase or rent a variety of titles from Vudu, whether they’re on a computer or on mobile. Afterwards, they’ll be able to watch these movies on their Fire TV via their Vudu library. Needless to say that this offers convenience and allows you to choose and watch films in just one place.
Kevin Shepela, the chief commercial officer of Fandango, said that the Fire TV is one of the “most-requested devices for streaming content” by Vudu users. If that’s the case, then it was only a matter of time before Vudu was launched on the Fire TV as well. The availability of Vudu titles is ever shifting, and some of the ones available this month include The Mauritanian, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, Minari, and Soul, among many others.
Vudu on Firestick Installation Guide — Two Methods
There are two different ways you can download and install Vudu on Firestick. The first one is through the official Amazon App Store, which is only a viable option now because of the recent launch. During that time when Vudu wasn’t available on Amazon yet, though, users had to sideload the app onto their Amazon device using the Downloader.
Regardless of which method you want to follow, you’ll find installation guides for both below.
Via Amazon App Store
- On your Amazon Firestick, head over to the Find menu and click on the Search option.
- Type “Vudu” into the search bar using the on-screen keypad. The app will offer suggestions, so you can click on the Vudu option as well.
- Under Apps & Games, select the Vudu for Fire TV app.
- Tap on Get in order to start download.
- Once the app has been downloaded successfully, you’ll see the option to Open it.
- The Vudu app will launch and you can start enjoying Vudu on Firestick.
As you can see, this method is incredibly easy and straight to the point. However, if you want a more complex method for some reason, you can try downloading and installing the Vudu for Fire TV app via Downloader.
Via Downloader
- Open up the App Store you use for your device, whether it’s the Amazon App Store or the Google Play Store. Make sure that you’ve already enabled the setting that allows you to download from Unknown Sources.
- Download and install the Downloader app, and then proceed to Launch it.
- Choose Allow.
- Tap OK.
- On the Downloader app’s homepage, you’ll find a search bar. Type in http://reviewdork.com into that respective field and hit Go.
- You’ll be redirected to a page where you can download the Vudu app.
- Select the Vudu for Fire TV app and then click the option that says Download Installation File.
- Wait for the download to finish.
- Click Install.
- Wait for the installation process to complete before hitting Done.
