Design, Display and Size

HTC One M9 is very similar to the preceder HTC One M8 in almost all features. The HTC has just upgraded some hardware components and also rectified the problems faced by M8 in this new version. The size and display is still 1080p where the LG G3, Samsung S6, Note 4 have been equipped with Quad HD Display which is very sharp and also have rich beautiful look.

HTC One M9 follows the tradition set in previous years with an aluminum uni-body, and other than a slightly more “brushed” look and feel, is remarkably similar to last year’s model. HTC M9 is something behind in display when compared with Samsung Galaxy S6 which is 577 ppi and only 441 ppi on One M9. Both Samsung Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 has got 5.1 Inch touch screens which are very good to handle and ease to carry in pockets, which is very convenient and handy.

Samsung_Galaxy_S6

Both the Galaxy S6 and the One M9 are built with high-quality materials and workmanship, but looking at the two side-by-side, the point here clearly goes to Samsung – though we are hesitant to endorse a glass-backed phone which is a fingerprint magnet. HTC thought of battery that drains for Quad HD Display as it is not much worth. In this point, HTC made a point that Quad HD displays hit battery life very badly and so left the 1080p resolution.

Camera

Finally HTC has released something good camera (infact the best thing) which is not Ultrapixel camera! HTC started releasing its Ultrapixel cameras from a long time which is just useless to user point of view.

This time, they didn’t repeat the same mistake again by placing ultrapixel camera but got up with rear camera of 20MP Sony-built module which can shoot video in 4K. But this camera lacks image stabilization and so a drawback found. They didn’t leave the ultrapixel and so kept the same 4UP module in front camera which is very good to take selfies and to have good 3G video call clarity even in low light.

While in Samsung Galaxy S6, there is a 16MP primary/rear camera which is very fine and can even shoot 4k videos. Also this camera is equipped with OIS. And the front facing camera is 5MP which is also very good enough for selfies and 3G video calling. Not much difference in both, we cannot determine which is best until we experience it hands-on.

Memory, Processor and Battery

HTC is running a Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM. It is powered by a 2840 mAh non-removable battery which is not much exciting.

Qualcomm-Snapdragon-810

Samsung, on the other hand, went with a processor of its own making, another Exynos called Octa-core 64-bit Exynos processor. Samsung was much cheapskate in giving decent battery to this giant flagship. Samsung S6 is just carrying a 2550 mAh, which seems a bit on the small side. But Samsung has given turbo charging which charges the phone very soon. Also it has got inbuilt wireless charging where both PMA and WPC standards are supported. That means the phone is compatible with both Duracell Powermat as well as the more widely available Qi-wireless chargers.

Even the best smartphones of 2014 viz., OnePlus One, One M8, LG G3 are having the same specs which have far much better display and battery. Samsung got rid of the microSD slot and went with a non-removable battery where as M8 has an expandable storage of 128GB SD slot. Samsung S6 is going to be released in 3 variants similar to that of Apple iPhone likely to be 32Gb, 64Gb and 128GB models. Battery is something very disappointing Samsung S6 as it has got Quad HD display. HTC One M9 battery is comparatively good and we have check it in long run even.

Conclusion

S6 has lost a few features which include A microSD card for adding additional storage, waterproofing and a removable battery (that to very less = 2550 mAh) are all missing, which was a cornerstone of Samsung’s previous Android smartphones. With no external storage support, Samsung has adopted Google and Apple’s model of fixed storage variants – users will have a choice of buying a 32, 64 or 128GB version. This will be something which is very expensive and audience may have a #NextBetterThing to buy than this smartphone. Samsung is expecting a huge number of sales for this Samsung galaxy S6. While coming to HTC One M9, Non removable battery (2840 mAh), No Quad HD Display, no special changes to its preceder are much disappointing for fans.

Overall both the fans have equal advantages and disadvantages which are left till we have it hands on, but we prefer HTC One M9 to Samsung Galaxy S6. What do you feel? Is our review apt for you?
