Microsoft's Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL – Specifications, Price and Availability

Microsoft has unveiled a new line of Lumia smartphones on Tuesday at an event in New York. It is already known that the two tech giants Apple and Google had launched their new hardware to target the festive season. Apple had unveiled a pair of smartphones iPhone 6s and iPhones 6s Plus at the beginning of September during its biggest Apple iPhone Event. After Apple, the Search Engine giant Google also announced Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P in the biggest Event at San Fransisco. Now, the turn of Microsoft has arrived and it has announced a slew of new products that include three Lumia smartphones, Surface Book Laptop, a new Surface Pro tablet and an updated version of its wearable fitness tracker, Microsoft Band. All these new devices launched by Microsoft will run on its latest Windows 10 Operating system.

The company has launched Windows 1o in the month of July which is a part of Microsoft’s push to gain a great share of the market for the smartphones and tablets. It is an intellectual approach of Microsoft to compete with other tech giants by announcing its new hardware. At the largest Event happened on Tuesday in New York, Microsoft showcased two new premium Lumia smartphones –  Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL Specifications

The software giant has showcased a pair of Lumia smartphone on Tuesday at an Event in New York. The two handsets namely Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL comes with Windows 10 operating system and are regarded as the first smartphones to get Windows OS. The pair of smartphones is designed with “tablet-class liquid cooling” in order to handle more powerful chips. Microsoft has launched these two smart handsets and aims to compete against the high-end Android smartphones. Display

The new Lumia 950 comes with a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. The display resolution of Lumia 950 is almost par with other smartphone competitors. The new handset will sport a pixel density of 565 ppi where one can view crisp and clear images with more pixel quality.

Operating System

As Microsoft had already released Windows 10 operating system, the new Lumia handsets will run on Windows 10. The Lumia 950 and 950 XL are the first devices to run Microsoft’s Windows 10 out of the box. Coming to the processing power, both the handsets are well-designed with pretty good processing speed. Microsoft has announced Lumia 950 and 950XL with a simple storage variant for both the models. Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL comes with a 32GB storage variant for both the models. It can be further expandable up to 2TB  via microSD card slot. Microsoft designed the pair of smartphones with a simple storage variant rather than multiple storage variants like 3 different storage variants for Apple iPhone and Google Nexus phones.

In terms of Camera, both handsets come with 20Mega-Pixel rear snapper with a triple LED flash and a fifth generation Optical Image Stabilization. Also, both the devices will come with a dedicated camera button for capturing quick photos.

Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL comes with a 5Mega-Pixel front-facing camera through which you can capture selfies with high picture quality. The camera of both the handsets also supports 4K and slow motion video recording.
